Meet our member of the month, Philia Kelnhofer,
the blogger behind The SweetPhi.

What was your original motivation for your blog? What keeps you motivated?

I’ve always loved cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. After getting together, I’d get asked for the recipes and would sit there and type it-or write it out to give to people. After a while of this happening, my husband suggested that I start a blog to put the recipes somewhere people could see them so that I wouldn’t have to start from scratch every time. That was 6 years ago, before I even knew that blogging was a “thing”!

What keeps me motivated now is what kept me motivated to begin with: to share recipes with family and friends. Also, I love having a place all my favorite recipes are, because I go back and make the dishes I share time and time again, and I love reading the story that went along with the dish 🙂

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s such a tough question! I’d have to say it would have to be my marinated yogurt lemon chicken, it’s something I make again and again (and that’s coming from someone who rarely repeats meals) and is so versatile. It can be cooked stove top, in the oven, or on the grill, and is great over salads, on pitas, or with a side of rice/pasta/potatoes. It’s one of my favorite recipes I shared in my cookbook Fast and Easy Five Ingredient Recipes: A Cookbook for Busy People.

What has been your biggest cooking disaster?

This actually happened to me last week! I was testing a recipe for what I had hoped would be a creamy potato/broccoli/sausage casserole in the slow cooker. It looked and smelled vile. The cream had separated and was chunky and the broccoli was this horrible grey/green color. Biggest cooking failure ever.

October is full of pumpkins: What is one of your favorite ways to use pumpkins in a dish?

My favorite way to use pumpkins is to make a pumpkin loaf! I have this recipe on my site and it gets such amazing feedback all year round, I actually am making a loaf the weekend 🙂

Trick or Treat: What is/was your favorite candy to get or give out when trick or treating?

Oh good question! I love Butterfingers!
